Simple Joy

03 Jul

Hopes are broken

Dreams are shattered

Yet I will stand for Joy

Desires are dashed

Thrown to the fire

Yet I will stand for Joy

Life bears it’s burden

Upon frail shoulders

Atlas drops to one knee

Simple joys are hidden

Beneath fire smolders

Will we ever be free?

A faint light shimmers

Beyond our world

Past the clouds,

Over the mountains

Few can see it’s wonder

And fewer still can see the truth

The simple joy behind the light

Nice poem Ty! You’re right. Even one can derive joy from the simple pleasures of life.

Thanks! Got inspired by my girlfriend, actually. She was all hyper and happy and skipping around, and I was thinking, “What does it take to make a truly joyous person.” And this was the result. 🙂
